Your teeth are important to you and you want to be sure that your local dental clinic is actively checking everything about your overall oral health to ensure that you do not run into preventable problems in the future.
A COMPREHENSIVE DENTAL CHECK UP INCLUDES:
- A check of the hard and soft tissues in your mouth. There are more than just teeth in your mouth.
- A check of your gums. This will let you know if there is any gum disease.
- A Charting of your teeth to ensure that we have a record of what work has been done in the past, what is the condition of that dental work and what work needs to be done.
- An assessment of your level of dental health and advice on how to maintain healthy teeth by improving the way you brush and floss if necessary.
- An Orthodontic assessment of your teeth. This identifies problems with the alignment of your teeth and problems with your bite. This has both cosmetic and functional ramifications.
- An assessment of the shade of your teeth if you are interested in whitening your teeth.
- In some cases photographs are required to help explain you dental condition and if this is the case photographs are included as part of the examination. If you would like to see your teeth photographs can also be requested at no extra charge.
- X-rays or Radiographs are often required to ensure that we are not missing problems such as tooth decay and gum disease. We only take x-rays if they are necessary and of course use digital radiography for the lowest possible dose of radiation and the best quality of image.
- A regular dental cleaning to remove any tartar or plaque buildup. This can include a fluoride treatment to help protect your teeth from cavities.
Regular dental check ups are essential to maintain good oral health, and to nip problems in the bud before a surgical or invasive procedure becomes necessary. Dental care is essential to your overall health and well-being. A healthy mouth leads to a healthy body.
