The dental implant procedure

A dental implant treatment is an effective solution to replace a missing tooth (or missing teeth). A dental implant is a long lasting option which mimics the form and function of your natural tooth (or teeth).

The Implant consists of a Titanium post which replaces the missing root of the tooth. An abutment fits into the post and crown is placed to restore the top part of the tooth which you see in the mouth.

BENEFITS OF DENTAL IMPLANTS OVER OTHER TREATMENT OPTIONS:

  • They look and feel like natural teeth
  • They are comfortable to chew on
  • Eliminates the pain of ill-fitting partial and full dentures
  • Helps to maintain bone in your jaws which helps maintain the shape of the face.
  • Removes the need to grind down healthy teeth for a bridge
  • Protect your remaining natural teeth

Not everyone is a good candidate for dental implant surgery and your implant dentist will discuss your particular case to help you to make the right decision. We work with Australia’s foremost specialists to help ensure the best possible outcome for each dental implant treatment. We also use only the best and proven implant systems.

Dr Peter Tadros has completed postgraduate training in Dental Implants at the University of Sydney.

Dental implant surgery and treatment

The first step is to book a consultation with our dentists to discuss whether dental implants are right for you, and to discuss the dental implant cost. If you decide to proceed, the next step is the dental implant surgery.

As with any surgical or invasive procedure, you should always ensure an appropriately qualified health practitioner performs your treatment. It’s important to recognise that any invasive procedure carries risks and your safety is our highest priority.

Getting dental implants is a minimally invasive procedure. In most cases, the surgery can be completed in our clinics with just a local anaesthetic.

After the treatment, you will be given aftercare instructions to ensure the success of your dental implants. These may include:

  • eating soft foods for a few days
  • practicing good oral hygiene
  • using a special mouthwash
  • avoiding smoking
  • attending regular check-ups with your dentist.

Dental implants cost

The cost of dental implants varies depending on the number of teeth being replaced and the complexity of the case. Generally, dental implants cost more than other tooth replacement options such as dentures or bridges. However, they are a long-term investment that can last a lifetime with proper care.
